There are very few days that I don’t have actual “booked” shoots that I don’t have my children. Having children is one of the best feelings and honors in the world. But sometimes, you just need a damn day off. Every single time I get a day off, I try to go hiking somewhere that i’ve never been before. So, I knew the area I wanted to explore and shoot at already. All I needed was a couple to let me drag them around and take photos of them.
I put out a “model call” on my Instagram for a couple and Jessica was one of the first people to message me. She told me it was their 4 year anniversary! How awesome would that be. To gift someone a shoot on their anniversary?! I instantly fell in love with her tattoos and the way her and her husband are goofy and GORGEOUS on her Instagram account! So, we did it! We set the time, I dropped my kids off with my ex husband. And we met at the falls!
Linville Falls has been one of the top places that I’ve wanted to adventure since I moved here last year. I kept receiving misleading information about the hike and the distance and the time, so I kept putting it off. When the time came, I asked my favorite Asheville photographers who live in the area, and they gave me the run down! .8 miles. THAT’S IT! .8 miles to my dream waterfall! Easy enough right? The trail down is a little rough. They call it “moderately rough” and it is the hardest hiking trail in that area. (According to the rangers at Linville)
Jessica and Kenneth were so AMAZING! I stepped in that water and my feet instantly FROZE. It was SO FREAKING COLD. I asked them if they were still up for getting in and they both laughed. Jessica replied with “whatever it takes to get those good photos!” YES! My kind of people!!
After the falls, we headed up to Hawksbill Mountain. Another DREAM location that i’ve been googling on my dear friend, “Foxhouse Studio’s” IG page! She shoots there a lot and the shots are always JAW DROPPING. So much gorgeousness. Let me tell you about that hike for a second. The beginning was great. It went uphill. No big deal. About 20 minutes in, it gets thick enough for one person and its boulders and rocks and a mess. My knees have never been so sore in my life. But it was 110% worth it. Even if it was raining the entire time!
I think Jessica looks gorgeous with her wet soaked hair! What about you?!
